Course Overview

Language Arts 6 B builds on the foundational reading and writing skills developed in 6 A. Students explore longer texts, deepen their understanding of literary elements, and refine their writing in argumentative, informative, and narrative genres. Emphasis is placed on analyzing text evidence, making inferences, and improving writing through revision.

Key Learning Focus

Students will:

• Analyze plot, character development, and figurative language in literature.
• Interpret informational texts for central ideas, structure, and purpose.
• Write clear and well-supported argumentative and informational essays.
• Strengthen grammar, usage, and sentence structure.
• Engage in collaborative discussions and text-based presentations.

Instructional Approach

Instruction incorporates close reading, writing workshops, vocabulary development, and peer collaboration. Students learn to cite evidence, refine their writing, and communicate effectively in a variety of formats.
