Course Overview
This version of High School Health includes all of the components of the standard course, with the addition of reproductive health and disease prevention content. Students are guided through sensitive but essential health topics in a responsible, age-appropriate way that emphasizes safety, respect, and personal responsibility.
Key Learning Focus
Students will:
- Develop skills in decision-making, communication, and goal setting for lifelong wellness.
- Explore nutrition, food choices, and substance abuse prevention.
- Study family dynamics, relationships, and personal health responsibility.
- Learn about STI and HIV/AIDS prevention as well as reproductive health topics.
- Gain consumer and financial literacy skills through study of consumer rights, advertising, and responsible use of checking and credit accounts.
Outcome
By the end of this course, students will:
- Understand and apply core principles of physical, emotional, social, and reproductive health.
- Demonstrate strategies to make safe, informed, and responsible choices about personal well-being.
- Be able to evaluate media, consumer, and financial influences on their health and lifestyle decisions.
